How come DVDs never have special features lately?

Whats the deal? Lately this year ive been buying tons of moves and the dvd versions only have the movie, nothing else, but the blue ray versions have multiple discs and have all the bonus features. Im pissed cause Terminator 4 comes on DVD 12/1/09 and it says DVD single disc theatrical movie and Blue Ray, 3 disc directors cut plus bonuses. That pisses me off since i dont feel like investing in a Blue ray player just for the bonuses.
